(1916 –87)

In 1942 she married the architect Ronald White, who built her a study near their home in the Santa Monica mountains where she worked daily, writing in longhand her highly personal, luminescent, lyrical poetry, as well as two volumes of dramatic poetry, a translation of the Bhagavad Gita (New York, 1970), and a critical biography of Anne Bradstreet (New York, 1974).
