Korean War

A conflict between North and South Korea. In 1950 the communist North, supported by the USSR, invaded the South, but a counterattack by mainly US forces sent by the United Nations Security Council pushed the communists back over the 38th parallel of latitude (the original dividing line between the two Koreas, established in 1945), and pressed as far north as North Korea's border with China.
