Comstock, Cyrus Ballou
(1831–1910) military engineer, born in West Wrentham, Massachusetts. During the Civil War Comstock served with the construction of defenses for Washington, D.C., on the engineering staff of the Army of the Potomac, and then as senior engineer at the siege and capture of Vicksburg (1862–63). From 1864–70 he served as an aide-de-camp for Gen. Ulysses S. Grant.
