King Philip's War

A Native American rising, which resulted from encroachments on Native lands in New England. It was led by Metacomet (or King Philip), chief of the Wampanoag, whose lands were in southern Massachusetts, but Mohawks of the Iroquois Confederacy devastated frontier settlements in northern and western interior New England as well.
