Capture of Saipan

One of the most critical battles of the Pacific war, the seizure of Saipan by US forces caused the fall of the Japanese prime minister, General Tōjō. A memorial in the park features over 5,200 names, and was dedicated during the 50th anniversary of the Invasion of Saipan.
